Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Shane “Pop” David Rochelle, 48, a resident of Morse Park, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Burlington, Jan. 13, 1957. He was the son of Gordon and Shirley (Gillette) Rochelle. Shane received his education in Danby and Sunderland and was a 1975 graduate of Burr and Burton Seminary.

He married the former Frances Bishop in Arlington. Frances died in 1990.

For 25 years Shane worked for the Agency of Transportation in Bennington.

Shane enjoyed watching sports and bowling. He was a member of the Vermont Agency of Transportation Bowling Team. He also enjoyed going to Lebanon Valley to watch car racing, hunting and fishing. His family was his main interest. He was a devoted son, father, grandfather and uncle.

Survivors include a son, John Dow of Bennington; two daughters and their spouses, Vicki and Paul Redden of Bennington, and Tammy and Rick Stell of Alburg; his parents, Gordon and Shirley Rochelle of Sunderland; a sister, Wendy R. Croft of Arlington; a niece and a nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Shane was predeceased by his wife, Frances, and a son, Matthew Rochelle.

At the request of Shane, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Shane’s sister, Wendy, encourages family and friends to call or visit.

A graveside committal service will take place in the spring in the family lot in the West Arlington Cemetery.
