VENICE, Fla. -- Sharon Ann Messemer, 61, a resident of North Port and formerly of Manchester, Vt., and Brick, N.J., died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Venice Hospital in Venice.

Sharon (Gillen) Messemer was born in Jersey City, N.J., on July 6, 1944, the daughter of Vincent Gillen and Mary (O’Boyle) Boyle. She received her education at St. Anthony’s in Jersey City.

She married Robert Messemer of North Port and Manchester, Vt., and formerly of Brick, on Dec. 11, 1969.

Before retiring to North Port, Sharon owned and operated the Avalanche Motel in Manchester with her family.

Prior to that, Sharon worked for the Brick Town Board of Education as a secretary for many years.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Deanne Lacoste and her husband, Brian, of Sunderland, Vt.; a son, Kyle and his fiance, Robin Dion, of Manchester.; two brothers, Terence Boyle and his wife, Rhea, of Elmwood Park, N.J., Brendan Boyle and his wife, Cathy, of Dunellen, N.J.; three sisters, Eleanor Herbert and her husband, Francis, of Rockingham, N.J., Patricia Spencer and her husband, David, of Manasquan, N.J., MaryJane DiPaolo and her husband, Thomas, of Sparta, N.J.; three grandchildren, Jennah Lacoste, Juila Lacoste and Jared Lacoste; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Feb. 11, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Visitation, located on Mantoloking Road, Brick.

There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Warren H. Wolf Scholarship, c/o Brick Township Schools, attn.: Dennis Fillipone, 362 Chambersbridge Road, Brick, NJ 08723.
