Sherman W. Herrington 1929-2011 Sherman W. Herrington, 81, passed away on Friday January 21 at the St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. He resided on Wilson Hill Road in Hoosick Falls with his wife Marjorie (Pine) Herrington. Sherm loved his wife Marjorie, his wife of 60 years as celebrated on September 9, 2010, all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sherm was born on March 22, 1929, in Troy, NY son of the late Sherman N. and Muriel (Bell) Herrington. He was a farmer all of his life owning and operating the Sher-Mar farm. The Sher-Mar prefix was well known throughout the country. Many cows and their descendants have sold for record-breaking prices over the years. He also had a great love for Holstein cattle. Crisscross Mingo, a 2 year old bull, was Honorable Mention and Reserve All American in 1968 and All American in 1967. He had a 2 year old heifer that won Honorable Mention for All American. There were also many Grand Champions honors at the Tri-County Holstein Show and other fairs. Sherm worked hard, played hard, loved and lived life with passion for every endeavor he undertook. He was a member of the West Hoosick Baptist Church, where he also served as a Trustee. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Tri-County Holstein Club and Angus Association. He enjoyed logging, golf, hunting, snowmobiling and maple sugaring. Survivors other than his wife Marjorie include his children Joanne Tilley (Dan) of Hoosick, NY, Susan Becker (Cliff) of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Jeffrey Herrington (Marcella) of Jefferson, Ga., James Herrington (Dana) of Hyde Park, N.Y., and Tim Herrington (Pat) of Conn. He is also survived by three sisters Eileen Mundy of Ohio, Katherine Jensen of Troy and Muriel Chestnut of Texas, two brothers Nathan Herrington of Florida, and James Herrington of California, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Sherm is predeceased by two sisters Sarah Bushkosky and Ellen Wimp. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Tuesday January 25, at 6 p.m., from the West Hoosick Baptist Church, Buskirk West Hoosick Road, West Hoosick, NY. Burial will be in the spring at the West Hoosick Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be to the West Hoosick Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
