Shirley Ann Brown

1930 - 2014 BENNINGTON Shirley Ann Brown, a resident of Crescent Manor Care Centers, died on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, following a long illness. She was born in Bennington on Feb. 6, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn Jones Watson. She received her education in local schools and was a graduate of Bennington High School. On Jan. 11, 1960, she married David J. Brown Sr., in Canaan, Conn. David died on March 8, 1986. For many years Shirley had been a home maker, but had worked at the BenMont Paper Company in earlier years. She was a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge and American Legion Post #13. She loved camping, and for over 25 years, had camped at the Broken Wheel Campground in Petersburgh, N.Y. She also enjoyed listening to music. Survivors include her children, Stephen Therriault and his wife, Norma, of Bennington, Jenneen Woodie and her husband, Rodger of Pownal, Kim Pirofsky-Holland, David Brown Jr. and his wife, Kelly L., and Shawn Brown and his wife Kelly M., all of Johnsonville, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Chris and Todd Therriault, Kasey Lillie, Lindsey and Justin Woodie, Joseph Weber, Trista Brown, Keri Brown, Amber and Dillon Foster; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Watson of Monroe, N.Y., and Philip Watson of Bennington; her sisters, Priscilla Stuber of Stony Point, N.Y., and Sandra Watson of North Bennington, and many nieces and nephews. Shirley is predeceased by two grandchildren, Shanon Pirofsky, and Sasha Brown; her brother and sisters, Robert R. Watson, Nina Morrison, Roberta Morin, Beverly Schultze, and Patricia Stuber. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. At Shirley's wishes there will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Alzheimer's Foundation through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
