Shirley Mae Cherbonneau 1929-2011 NORTH BENNINGTON Shirley Mae Cherbonneau, 82, widow of Donald Cherbonneau, a former resident of Hall Street, North Bennington, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Derry, N.H. following a long illness. Born in Arlington March 21, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Marie (Grover) LaFond Harrington. Shirley received her education in Hoosick Falls and was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. Shirley and Don were married June 12, 1948. Don died on February 24, 2011. Shirley resided in North Bennington for over 60 years before moving to New Hampshire to be near her children and grandchildren. In earlier years she had been employed at the Paradise Restaurant, Marty Moore Greenhouses and the ChemFab Corporation. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and had been very active in the NorShaft Lions Club where her husband had been a long time member. Family was always number one with Shirley. She enjoyed sewing, bingo, singing and dancing, decorating and attending all her grandchildren's sporting events and special events. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Tim Keefe of Weare, N.H.; a son, Craig Cherbonneau, and a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kristine Cherbonneau, all of Derry, N.H.; her grandchildren, Courtney (Keefe) Benevides, Ryan Keefe, Nicole (Cherbonneau) Ellington, Tyler Cherbonneau, Kyle and Brett Cherbonneau; three great-grandchildren, Riley Mae Benevides and Anthony and Kevin Cherbonneau; two sisters, Jeanette Connolly of Troy, N.Y. and Dale Senecal of Bennington; a brother, Richard LaFond, of Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by a brother, Arnold Harrington Jr. The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 12 noon with Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery, North Bennington.
