Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Shirley E. Forrest, 82, widow of Everett J. “Buster” Forrest, a resident of Chapel Road, Bennington, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass. following a brief illness.

She was born in Ludlow, July, 6, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Burdick) Wilkins. She received her education in Adams, Mass. and Shaftsbury.

Mr. and Mrs. Forrest were married in Shaftsbury on Sept. 23, 1939. Mr. Forrest died Feb. 6, 1999.

In earlier years Mrs. Forrest was employed at Bennington Brush and later at Union Carbide Corporation. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest owned and operated a farm which she especially enjoyed. Her home and family were her main interests.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Helen Mayhew and Beatrice Forrest, both of Bennington, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside committal service will be held at White Chapel Cemetery Tuesday, Mar. 1, 2005, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Deborah Estey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.

There will be no calling hours at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
