PAWLET -- Shirley G. Donegan, 74, a resident of Pawlet for 10 years, formerly of Lake Hopatcong, N.J., died on Tuesday night, Sept. 6, 2005, at her home.

She was born in New Jersey on Aug. 11, 1931, the daughter of the late Louis and Grace (Jessie) Horn. She spent her early years in Roseland, N.J., and attended local schools and went on to college.

Shirley married William Donegan II and together raised a loving family. She lived on Lake Hopatcong for most of her married lifel She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a loving aunt and a doting grandmother. Shirley was an active volunteer in the community in New Jersey and Vermont. She will be missed by the many that knew and loved this great woman.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill; her son, William Donegan III and his wife Elaine of Hopatcong; a daughter, Lynn McCauley and her husband John of Pennsylvania; her son, Steven Gianoulis and his wife Karen of Stanhope, N.J.; her beloved niece, Sandra Corkern and her husband Dale of Nevada; her grandchildren, Matt McCauley of Vernon, N.J., and Analise and Hailey Gianoulis of Stanhope; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Schable; and the Barto family of Point Pleasant, N.J.

A funeral service will take place in Saint Paul’s Church in Manchester on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m. A graveside service of committal will follow in the Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Pawlet. Father Julian LaFlamme will officiate. Friends may call Friday night at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester from 6 to 8.
