Shirley Moses Obituary
Shirley Marie Moses

1921 - 2013 EAGLE BRIDGE, N.Y. Shirley Marie Moses died on Thursday, March 14, 2013, a week before celebrating her 92nd birthday. Her loving family surrounded her bedside at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls. Shirley's beloved husband Carl died in 2010.

Born in Hoosick Falls on March 21, 1921, she was one of the seven children of Howard and Ina V. Mason Harrison. After graduating from Hoosick Falls High School, class of 1939, she attended Troy Business College and worked at the Montgomery Ward Company until her marriage to Carl on Nov. 29, 1941.

Carl and Shirley settled in Eagle Bridge where she helped with the family farm, Moses Vegetable Farm, and raised their family.

She was a devoted member of the Eagle Bridge United Methodist Church and was involved in the woman's organization. She was also a member of the Mary McClellan Hospital Auxiliary and Home Dem.

It was very appropriate that Shirley passed on 'National Pi Day' since she was renown for her pies, especially her apple and berry ones. She was a great cook of all food and considered it her purpose in life to make sure everyone was well feed.

More than anything, Shirley loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed playing Bridge and loved the members of her Bridge group. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing.

A daughter, Carol, died in infancy. Four brothers, Harry, Malcom,Mason and Warner (Ben) Harrison, predecease Shirley.

She is survived by six children, Sherry (Richard) Somerset of Essex Center, Vt., Gayle (Norman) Hahn of Gloucester, Va., Cindy (Kenneth) Gottry of Cambridge, Richard (Kathy) Moses of Eagle Bridge, Nancy Alexander of Eagle Bridge and Sue (Richard) Akin of Johnsonville; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Ann Gilfeather (Jack) of Red Hook, N.Y., and Ronald Harrison (Sedalia) of Syracuse, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, March 17, 2013, from 3 to 6 p.m. at ACKLEY & ROSS FUNERAL HOME, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 starting at 10 a.m. at the Embury United Methodist Church, 41 East Main Street, (beside the post office), Cambridge. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Hoosick Falls.

Shirley was a wonderful, warm friendly lady who will be greatly missed. For those wishing to remember Shirley in a special way the family requests memorial donations be made to the Eagle Bridge United Methodist Church, Eagle Bridge, NY 12057.
