HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Shirley Post Kyer, 74, of Parsons Avenue, died on Monday at her residence under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

Born March 31, 1933, in Hoosick Falls, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Alberta Greenaway Post. She was the loving wife of the late Francis T. (Bud) Kyer, who died on Dec. 4, 1994. They were married in St. Brigid’s Church in Buskirk on July 4, 1953.

Shirley was a 1950 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. She was employed by Peoples First National Bank (now Key Bank) and Trustco Bank for a total of 41 years. She was a 60-year member of the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls and a past director of the Hoosick Falls Health Center where she served on its board and as secretary.

Survivors include her children, Stacey Kyer Houran of Buskirk, Francis T. Kyer II of Cambridge and Kurt R. Kyer of Hoosick Falls; grandchildren Aaron, Jeremy and Nickolas Houran, Kiel Francis Kyer; a great-grandson, Noah Houran; a brother Edward "Ted" Post of Hoosick Falls; sisters Lois (John) McDermott of Rochester and Beverly (Harry) Butfar of Schenectady, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Sterling Norman Post, predeceased her.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main St., Hoosick Falls, where Rev. Donald Nelson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation on Friday starting at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls or the Hoosick Falls Health Center.
