1930 - 2015 BENNINGTON Shirley W. Percey, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 in Bennington. Shirley was born in Shoreham, VT on June 25, 1930, the daughter of the late Edna (Labshere) and Eber White. She was a graduate of Arlington Memorial High School. In earlier years Shirley was employed at the former Poly-graphic Company in North Bennington where she met her husband of 65 years, Philip Percey. She later worked for 39 years at Bennington College as the accounting and budget manager. Besides her love of family and her Vermont heritage, Shirley was a longtime member of Wednesday Women's and Friday Senior's bowling leagues at Bennington Lanes. She enjoyed family trips to Maine and Lake George, NY, was a devout Red Sox and Celtics fan and especially enjoyed attending card parties with her friends and family. Shirley was also a member of Unit 13, American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her husband Philip, she is survived by her brother, Ronald White, a sister and brother-in-law, Carl and Donna Brown, a very special friend, Pamela Clough and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Ralph White, Gladys Ross, Warren White, Carroll White, Marian Crawford, Martha White, Cleland White, Joyce Legacy, Ethel Brown, Eber White Jr., Robert White, Gordon White and Paul White. The family would like to thank both the staffs at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation for their kindness and their care. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday from 3 to 6p.m. when the family will be in attendance. The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1p.m. with Deacon Gregory A. Brown, Shirley's nephew, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Shirley Percey's memory may be made to American Legion Post 13 in care of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. Guestbook condolences may be made at www.maharandsonfuneralhome.net. All members of American Legion Unit 13 are asked to meet at the funeral home Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. to conduct services in memory of Shirley Percey.
