SHAFTSBURY -- Mrs. Sophie Kulha, 75, widow of John Kulha, a former resident of Twitchell Hill Road, Shaftsbury, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003 at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a long illness.

Born in Palmerton, Pa. March 25, 1928 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Konkus) Kupar. She received her education in Palmerton and was a graduate of Palmerton High School.

Mr. and Mrs. Kulha were married in Palmerton, Pa. in 1948. Mr. Kulha died May 31, 1990.

Mrs. Kulha was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Annemarie and Peter Zorio of Shaftsbury; seven grandchildren, Lisa, Lauren, Melissa and Timothy Zorio, John, Kristin, and William Kulha; a sister, Helen Werner of Leola, Pa.; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Kulha was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jessica Hope Zorio, and two brothers and two sisters, Michael Kupar, Charles Kupar, Anne Holczman and Mary Wisecky.

The funeral will be held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington Friday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

There will be no calling hours.

Burial will take place in the family lot in St’s. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Lehighton, Pa. on Saturday at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Kulha may be made to Vermont Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
