Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Stanley H. Burnham were held at the Federated Church of East Arlington on Tuesday morning with the Rev. Thomas Truscott, interim pastor, officiating. Music for the service was provided by organist Douglas Bischoff, who offered a medley of traditional hymns as a prelude. He also accompanied the congregation in singing “Amazing Grace.” Serving as bearers were members of American Legion Post 13 including Commander, Department of Vermont Ralph Brown, Joseph Krawczyk, John Welch and Richard Klein, also longtime family friend, Ralph Gustavsen. A time of fellowship followed the service in Bailey Hall, hosted by the ladies of the church. Burial took place on Wednesday in the Porter family lot in Pine Hill Cemetery in Sharon with the Rev. Truscott offering the committal prayers.

On Monday evening at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, members of American Legion held services in honor of the World War II Army veteran with Commander Michael Krizan and acting Chaplain John Welch presiding. Members of Tucker Lodge F&AM held Masonic burial rites in memory of Mr. Burnham who had been a Mason for more than 50 years. Also attending as a delegation were members of Red Mountain Chapter No. 41 Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Burnham, a longtime resident of Houghton Lane, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness.

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington.
