Stanley F. Niegoda Sr.

1937 - 2015 BENNINGTON Stanley F. Niegoda Sr., 77, a formerly of Hoosick Falls and Raymertown and more recently, Bennington, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, following a short illness. Born in Hoosick Falls, August 16, 1937, Mr. Niegoda was the son of the late Joseph S. and Ethel (Gannon) Niegoda and for many years the husband of the late Loreen C. (Cone) Niegoda who predeceased him in 2007. Mr. Niegoda was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. In 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy, attended training school at the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia and served at sea for three years aboard the U.S.S. Fulton. After being honorably discharged in 1958, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving an additional four years as a liquid fuels systems specialist at the Vandenberg Air Base in Lompoc, CA. At the time of his second honorable discharge in 1962 he had earned the rank of Airman First Class. Most recently, he had been employed as a mail clerk and later as a mail carrier by the United States Post Office in Bennington. After more than 25 years of service he retired in 1992. Mr. Niegoda enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan. He is survived by two sons, Stanley F. Niegoda Jr., "Butch" of Bennington and Steven E. Niegoda of Waconia, MN, from first wife, Eva Harrington-Hess, a sister, Pamelia Dunigan of the Town of Hoosick, a brother, Gary Niegoda of Hoosick Falls, a granddaughter, Meghan C, Niegoda of Waconia, MN, his special companion and friend, Peg Stevens of Bennington and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and late wife he was also predeceased by a brother, the late Joseph Niegoda. At Mr. Niegoda's request there will be no public services or calling hours. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Drive, Bennington, Vermont 05201 in memory if Staley F. Niegoda Sr. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown.
