HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Stasia S. Roberto, 87, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. She was the wife of the late Samuel Roberto who died in 1979. Stasia resided on Beechwood Road in Hoosick Falls with her daughter, Carmie Sourdiffe, and her husband, Andre.

Stasia was born on Sept. 12, 1919, in Brooklyn, daughter of the late Frank and Regina Pomaska Wysocki. She was educated at schools in Hoosick Falls. Stasia and her husband Samuel operated several area restaurants and later the Ideal Restaurant in Hoosick Falls for many years. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and taking walks. Stasia especially like to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.

Survivors other than her daughter Carmie and her husband Andre include two daughters, Mary Ann Brown of Inverness, Fla., and Angie Hatfield of Hoosick Falls; her sister, Jennie Shuhart of Cherry Plains; she is also survived by seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Stasia is predeceased by a sister, Lucy Bedard, and two brothers, Charles and Henry Wysocki.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 16, from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to Intensive Care Unit at The Southwestern Vermont Medical Center through the funeral home.
