Stella June Rose Bruneau
1927-2009 BENNINGTON Stella June Rose Bruneau, 82, widow of Wallace E. Bruneau, a former resident of East Road and McCall Street, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation following a long illness.
Born in Winooski on June 10, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Bushey Rose. She received her education in Winooski and was a graduate of Winooski High School, Class of 1945.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruneau were married in Winooski at Saint Stephens Catholic Church on September 2, 1950. Mr. Bruneau died December 7, 1995.
In earlier years Mrs. Bruneau was employed as a domestic worker, waitress and babysitter in the Burlington area. She worked for the family of Dr. Lawrence, the Lake Champlain Club, Franks Economy and Mallets' Bay Pavilion. Stella also worked for New England Telephone in Bennington before being transferred to St. Albans. Following her marriage she moved back to Bennington and began working at Union Carbide Corporation until her retirement in 1982.
Mrs. Bruneau was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and a 40 year member of Court St. Andrew, Catholic Daughters of America. Following retirement she volunteered at both Crescent Manor Care Centers and Bennington Health and Rehabilitation.
Her hobbies and interests included camping, fishing, picnicking and reading.
Survivors include two brothers, Angelo "Bang" Rose of Plymouth, Conn. and Frank Rose of Orange City, Fla. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
