Stephen Ray Andrews, Sr.

1947 - 2015 BENNINGTON Stephen Ray Andrews Sr., 67, a resident of Abbott Street, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Newport, VT on Apr. 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Erbert Andrews and Joyce (Bliss) Andrews who survives. Steve was a 1965 graduate of Bennington High School. He married the former Cynthia Graves in Bennington on Aug. 27, 1988. In earlier years Steve was employed at Johnson Controls for 22 years. He also owned and drove race horses at tracks in Pownal, Hinsdale, NH and Saratoga Springs, NY. He last worked as a blackjack dealer at the Turning Stone Casino in Vernon, NY. Steve was an avid horse racing fan who also enjoyed high school sports, hunting, fishing and bowling. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Andrews of Bennington; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Jr. and Michele Andrews of Bennington; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty-Ann and Anthony Pascucci of Buskirk, NY; two step-daughters, Tracy (Timothy) Redden of North Bennington and Tina (Christopher) Hessler of Bennington; 11 grandchildren, Amarissa, Courtney, Kristen, Hallie, Sarah, Kasey, Zachary, Jason, Aaron, Damien and Daylin; a brother, Will Andrews of Millbury, MA; four sisters-in-law, Susan Andrews of Bennington, Carole LeClerc and Barbara Novotny, both of Connecticut and Sally Lane of Maine; five brothers-in-law, Arnold Graves, Douglas (Elaine) Graves, Dana Lane and Donald Sayre, all of Connecticut and Walter (Donna) Graves of Massachusetts; a special friend, Glen Turner of Jonesboro, TN and many nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by a brother, Michael Andrews, a sister-in-law, Donna Sayre and a brother-in-law, Bert LeClerc. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. At Steve's request there will be no funeral services held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Stephen Andrews's memory may be made to either the or the through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
