Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Steven M. Willette, 52, a resident of North Street, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington following a long illness.

Born in Brattleboro April 25, 1952, he was the son of the late Amos and Joyce (Mortimer) Willette. He received his education in the Keene, N.H. schools and was a 1971 graduate of Keene High School.

Steven was a U.S. Navy veteran who served on the USS Independence during the Vietnam War.

He married the former Shirley Merrill in Bennington on July 7, 2001. Prior to his illness, Steven had most recently been employed at Price Chopper Supermarket in Bennington.

An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Willette of Brattleboro; two sons, Luke Willette of Wilmington and Jesse Willette of Brattleboro; six stepchildren, Kaylyn Gerry of North Adams, Mass. and Caroline, John, Patrick, Shane and Elizabeth Gerry, all of Brattleboro; four sisters, Pamela Darby of St. Petersburgh, Fla., Jolene Eisenlohr of Pownal, Kathleen Stockwell of West Brattleboro and Lorraine Kelley of Hinsdale, N.H.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held from All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Wednesdsay, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating.

Friends may call at All Faiths Chapel Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will take place at the Vermont Veterans War Memorial Cemetery at the Vermont Veterans Home.
