Stuart J. Sherry M.D. Obituary
Stuart James Sherry "Stu", 73, died at his home near Walla Walla, Washington on May 18, 2017. Services were held in Walla Walla on June 6th, 2017.

Stu was born on April 21, 1944 in Havre, Montana. After graduation from Havre High School in 1962 he attended the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1966. While there he was an active member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Stu and Elinor (Elly) Lyons of Walla Walla, Washington were married in Walla Walla on September 17, 1966 after their graduation from the University of Montana.

Stu next completed a Master's Degree in Physiology at the University of North Dakota. He then attended medical school at the University of New Mexico and earned his medical degree in 1972. He completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond in 1977 and then returned to Missoula, Montana to practice obstetrics and gynecology.

In 1982 he moved with his family to Bennington, Vermont where he practiced for 19 years. He then spent 12 years practicing in Minnesota with the Mayo Clinic and United Hospital. He retired from practice in 2012 having delivered over 10,000 babies during his career. He received numerous awards for Excellence in Medicine during his 35 years of practice. His research and publications were also recognized in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Journal.

Stu was an expert fly fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors greatly. Upon retirement, he and Elly returned to the Lyons family farm outside Walla Walla. He was an outstanding husband, father, and friend, and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Elly (Lyons) Sherry; brother Charles Sherry; sons James and David Sherry; daughter Lizzy Sherry; grandchildren Nolan, Laney, Hannah, and Olivia; brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Leslie Lyons and their children Matt and Kelly Lyons; as well as other extended family members.
