Susan E. Buck 1915 - 2008 NORTH BENNINGTON, VT. Susan E. Buck, 93, widow of Frank Buck, a resident of Homestead Mews, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington following a brief illness. Born in Bennington on March 25, 1915, daughter of Arthur A. and Alice Eva Elwell, she received her education in the schools in Bennington, at the Kurn Hattin Home in Saxtons River and in Rutland,where she was a graduate of Rutland High School. In earlier years, Mrs. Buck was employed as the secretary at the First Baptist Church in Bennington from 1952 until 1958. She later worked in the advertising department at the Hoosick Falls Standard Press before becoming a licensed real estate agent, which she did for 11 years prior to her retirement. During her later years, she volunteered at various day care centers in the area where she would read to the children. Her husband, whom she married Sept. 28, 1933, died in 1950. She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Ina and James Cross of North Bennington; a son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Donna Buck of Cossayuna Lake, N.Y.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and agreat-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Mabel M. Elwell and Louise Cardany, both of Bennington and Thelma Elwell of Glenmont, N.Y., many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters . FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services celebrating the life of Susan Buck will be held from the White Chapel Church on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
