Susanna Murphy Obituary
Susanna G. Murphy

1924-2012 WHITE CREEK, NY Mrs. Susanna G. Murphy, 88, widow of Francis J. Murphy, a long time resident of White Creek, New York, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the home of her son in Bennington.

Born in White Creek July 14, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Matilda (Brayton) Gannon. Susanna received her early education in White Creek and was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School.

Mr. & Mrs. Murphy were married on May 19, 1951 at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington. Mr. Murphy died May 20, 1967.

Susanna was employed as a sales clerk at Woolworths and Grants department stores in Bennington from 1964 1994.

A long time member of the Jermain Methodist Church in White Creek, she was very active on several church committees for many years.

Susanna was an avid lover of animals, especially her cats and feeding the birds. She enjoyed her soap operas, sending cards and time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susanna always loved life in White Creek and living a life time in the house she was born in. She was proud to be called a "Cricker".

In December Susanna entered the hospice program and was only expected to live a few weeks. The family is very thankful for all the blessings they received by having Susanna for the past eight months and would like to especially thank the Bayada Nurses staff for the wonderful care given to her during that time.

Survivors include a son and his fiance, Charles J. Murphy and Kimberly Burke of Bennington; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Andrew Pearson of Greenfield, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Daniel Pierson (Sonya Williams) and Melinda (Gregory) Schimmack; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Lucas Schimmack; three step-grandchildren, Michael Cellura, Louis Cellura and Alyson Cutler; three step-great-grandchildren, Christopher Cellura, Anthony Cellura and Gabriella Cutler; two sisters-in-law, Mary Harrington of North Bennington and Celia Harrington of Shaftsbury; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
