Suzanne M. Quackenbush 1927-2011 Suzanne M. Quackenbush, 84, better known as "Nana Q", died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at North Adams Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. A former resident of White Birches, Bennington, she was currently residing with her daughter Susan in North Adams. Born in Bennington January 5, 1927 she was the daughter of the late William G. and Suzanne Mary (Robinson) Marshall. She received her education in the Bennington schools. Suzanne was first married to Alard Wirasnick, and later to Ralph Quackenbush Sr; both have since deceased. In earlier years Suzanne was employed at the EZ Mill in Bennington and later at the Nancy Shoe Company in Hoosick Falls. She later did day-care for many local children until the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxillary and the Women of the Moose, both in Bennington. She also was a member of the Liberty Ellis Island Foundation and a supporter of St. Jude's Shrine. She had enjoyed crocheting, gardening and fishing and was a fan of both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Pierce of Bennington and Suzanne Quackenbush of North Adams, Mass.; two sons, Joseph Wirasnik and wife Shelley of Hartland, Vt., and Danny Wirasnik and wife Sandra of Bennington; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; an adopted granddaughter, Bonnie Buck of Washington; many step-children, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her guardian angel, Ingrid Walker of Bennington. Suzanne was predeceased by a brother and three sisters, Edward Marshall and three sisters, Patricia Tesch, Lucy Thibodeau and Lorraine White. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2p.m. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Friday from noon until the time of the service. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Suzanne Quackenbush's memory may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or St. Jude's Children's Hospital through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
