HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Teresa E. Eighmey, 90, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at the Danforth Adult Home in Hoosick Falls, where she had been a resident since August. She formerly resided on Wilder Avenue in Hoosick Falls. Teresa was the wife of the late Douglas J. Eighmey who died in 1965.

She was born June 29, 1913 in North Hoosick, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Wolfrum) McGuire. She was educated at Hoosick Falls High School. Teresa worked at the Hoosick Falls Central School in the cafeteria for several years. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Catholic Daughter of America for many years. Teresa enjoyed swimming at the community pool and was an avid sports fan, especially all the athletic teams at Hoosick Falls Central School.

Survivors include daughter Ellen Carrolan and her husband James of Salem; twin sons, Donald J. Eighmey of Carthage, and Douglas J. Eighmey Jr. and his wife Karen of Louisville, Ky.; also survived by six grandchildren, Peter Carrolan of Salem, Douglas Carrolan of Virginia Beach, Susan Carrolan of Aspen, Colo., Sarah Eighmey Ater and her husband Joshua of Englewood, Ohio, Jennifer Eighmey of New York City, and Thomas Eighmey of Carthage; two great-grandchildren Kimberly and James Carrolan of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister Mary McInery Haynes and two brother,s John and Fred McGuire.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street. Burial will follow the mass at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Saratoga.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Eighmey established the Douglas J. Eighmey Memorial Scholarship Fund, which honors a student athlete at Hoosick Falls Central School, each year. Memorial contributions may also be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
