Born April 18, 1929 in New York City, she was the daughter of Thomas and Constance Cordone Barcia. Terry was the wife of Thomas York Messina Sr. They had been married 54 years at the time of his death 13 years ago.

She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper and full-time volunteer missionary. She spent four years at Sommer Haven International Ministry in Palmdale, Calif. and spent eight years at Green Meadow Mission in White Creek. She also volunteered at Bennington Area Home Health/Hospice Services.

She loved her Meadow Mews community, where she was an avid queen of games, a wonderful Canasta Club hostess and a fabulous social organizer.

Throughout Terry’s life she opened her heart and her home, touching many, many lives.

A brother, Thomas Barcia, died before her.

She is survived by six children, Denise Messina of Springfield, Mass., Tom York Messina Jr. of Westbury, N.Y., Teresa M. Bravata of White Creek, N.Y., Darlene Messina of Philadelphia, Pa., Mark Messina of Huntington Station, N.Y. and Michele Messina of Springfield, Mass; 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, Sept. 16, at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge, N.Y. from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at Jacob’s Well Fellowship, 181 Legrys Road, Cambridge, on Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in White Creek.

Terry requested memorial donations be made to either Jacob’s Well Fellowship or Bennington Area Home Health/Hospice Services, 100 Hospital Drive, Suite 126, Bennington, VT 05201.

The strength of Terry’s loving hugs endured into her last days. She will be greatly missed.
