Theodore Francis Doucette 1926 - 2008 BENNINGTON Theodore Francis Doucette, 82, a resident of Bennington died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at his residence. Born in Winthrop, Mass., on Sept. 29, 1926, son of Raymond Francis and Emily Loring Morrow Doucette, he received his education in Winthrop and Millbury, Mass., and was a graduate of Millbury High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. Upon his discharge he attended Emerson College in Boston. Ted and his longtime partner, Mark F. Crawford, were joined in civil union on September 11, 2000 in Bennington. Mr. Crawford died Feb. 1, 2007 Mr. Doucette and his partner, Mark Crawford, founded Art Work Specialties and Jet Age Designs Inc., a business form design company. In 1962, he opened Pixiecroft Kennels. He was also editor and publisher of "The Poodle Showcase" which was awarded the Dog Writers Association of America's Top Breed Magazine. In 1988, Ted and Mark founded the Bennington Area AIDS Project. Ted was a co-incorporator of the Vermont Aids Council in Montpelier. He was very active locally and enjoyed calling numbers for Bingo at the Charity House in Bennington. He leaves his longtime friends, Stuart Hurd, Justine Scanlon and Mary Geannelis, all of Bennington. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at 2 p.m., where the Burial Office with Holy Eucharist will be offered by Mother Anita Schell Lambert, Rector. Friends may call at Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME. The entombment will take place in the family mausoleum in Park Lawn Cemetery. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Mr. Doucette may be made to either the American Legion Post 13 for Marks Project or St. Peter's Episcopal Church through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201
