HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Theodore “Ted” Lukas, 81, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. He resided on Eldridge Street in Hoosick Falls with his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (LaClair) Lukas

Ted was born on March 28, 1924, in Hoosick Falls, son of the late George and Adele Lukas. He was educated at Hoosick Falls High School, graduating in 1942. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. Ted worked as a self-employed plumber in the Hoosick Falls area for many years, retiring several years ago. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the V.F.W. in Hoosick Falls. He also served as trustee for the Village of Hoosick Falls for several years. Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking.

Survivors other than his wife, Betty, include a daughter, Claire Lukas of New Milford, Conn.; three sons, David Lukas of Hamlin, Paul Lukas of Spencerport and Mark Lukas of Shaftsbury, Vt.; a sister, Helen Sausville of Bennington, Vt.; two grandchildren, Katie and Kristen Lukas; and two stepgrandchildren, Ashley and Michael Chiponne.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home., 43 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 4 p.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center or the Rensselaer County Hospice through the funeral home.
