DOUGLAS, Mass. -- Thomas A. Gauthier, 54, a resident of Douglas, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Milford Whitinsville Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Hartford, Conn. on June 26, 1949, he was the son of the late Albert R. Gauthier and the late Shirley (Punteney) Gauthier. A graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School, he married the former Judy Young in Bennington in 1966.

He was a Vietnam U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed at the Benmont Plant for many years after which he went on to do construction work as a carpenter. A member of the Uxbridge Rod & Gun Club and American Legion, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, camping and was a motorcycle enthusiast.

Survivors include his loving companion, Nancy Fenning of Massachusetts; his three daughters, Jamie Jackson, Bonnie Pruitt, Wendy Harder and a son John Gauthier all of Virginia; his three sisters, Theresa Atwood, Lorraine Baker, Caroline Gauthier all of Bennington; and two brothers, Larry Gauthier of Bennington and Chuck Gauthier of Florida; 13 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt.

A remembrance service will be held on Jan. 30, 2004 at the Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, 238 W. Main St.

Bennington, Room 1 and 2 at 10 a.m. At his request he was cremated and his ashes will be spread on the waters of the Walloomsac River. The military head stone will be placed at the foot of his parent’s graves at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Contributions in Thomas Gauthier’s memory should be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad.
