MIDDLEFIELD, Mass. -- Thomas E. Donnelly, of Middlefield, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Tom was born in Flushing, N.Y., on April 7, 1941, to the late Thomas and Eileen Flahaven Donnelly, formerly of Stratford, Conn.

Tom graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport, Conn., and worked at National Cash Register and Hawley Hardware before moving to Bennington, Vt., in 1970. In Bennington he worked at H. Greenberg & Son and Sacred Heart Church, where he was an active parishioner. In 1983, he moved with his family to Middlefield, Mass., and worked for many years at the Brien Center in Pittsfield. He attended the Andover-Newton Theological School in Newton, Mass.

A lifelong lover of music, Tom played guitar and sang in choirs at both Sacred Heart Church and the Middlefield Congregational Church. Tom was also and avid reader and was widely known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing and cross-country skiing with his family and recently returned from a trip to Ireland with his wife Susan, which he enjoyed immensely.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan Baker-Donnelly, whom he married on Aug. 21, 2004. He is also survived by his former wife, Margaret, and their children: William and his wife Christina of Brookfield, Vt.; Paul and his wife Sharon of Newton, Mass.; Kate Donnelly of Albany, N.Y., Laura Donnelly of Westfield, Mass.

He is also survived by siblings: Mary Ann Walsh, Susan McPadden and Lee Ellen Romano of Connecticut. Edward Donnelly of Rhode Island, Theresa Dawes of Connecticut and John Donnelly and Joseph Donnelly of Massachusetts, and by grandchildren: Erin, Lauren, Ethan and Alexander.

He is predeceased by his twin sister, Margaret Weissauer.

Family and Friends may attend calling hours on Friday, Jan. 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bartlett-Wellington Funeral Home, 525 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Middlefield Congregational Church on Skyline Trail, Middlefield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middlefield Congregational Church, P.O. Box 117, Middlefield, MA 01243. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
