Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Thomas E. Spiak, 57, a resident of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, died on Friday morning, Dec. 10, 2004, following a long illness.

He was born in Troy, N.Y. on Dec. 20, 1946, and was the son of the late Philip and Vera (Unser) Spiak. He received his education locally, and is a graduate of Tamarack High School.

He served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. Following the war, he returned home and worked in the family auto body shop. Mr. Spiak was a member of the pit crew with the Philip Spiak Racing Team, that toured on the NASCAR circuit. Mr. Spiak was a former member of the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club in Troy, N.Y.

He is survived by one daughter, Christine Marks of Johnsonville, N.Y. and one son, Thomas Spiak of Palmyra, N.Y. He leaves one brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Peggy Spiak of Troy, N.Y., and one grandson. He has one neice, Ellen Myrick of Seattle and one nephew, Philip Spiak of Rotterdam, N.Y.

Local services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in the Vermont Veterans War Memorial Cemetery in Bennington.

There are no calling hours scheduled.

A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be held at a time to be announced at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Troy, N.Y.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington, Vermont.
