Thomas J. Keyes Sr. Obituary
Poultney, VT - Thomas James Keyes, Sr. a resident of Cones Point Road, passed away September 28, 2017 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Tom was born in Manchester, VT on July 28, 1949 the son of James (Pete) Keyes and Virginia Roberts and attended local schools.

Tom was a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Viet-Nam War, retiring after 30 years of service to his country. During his time with the Marine Corps he served as a member of Crash, Fire and Rescue and was Personal Fire Assistant to President Ronald Reagan.

He was a member of VFW Post 648 in Rutland, the Marine Corps League, the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and was the State Commander for the VFW from 2002-2003. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, his love for the Marine Corps and cherished times spent with his family.

Tom is survived by his wife Lawniera (Castro) Keyes of Poultney, whom he married in Manchester in 1972, sons Thomas J. Keyes, Jr and his wife Kimberly and Edmond S. Keyes both of Manchester, daughter Melissa J. Ricketts and her husband Greg of Castleton, VT, brothers Harvey O. Keyes of Manchester, Jack Keyes and his wife Donna of Manchester and Michael Keyes (Ann Sweeney) of Peru, VT, sisters Linda Bushee of Fairhaven, Joan Dyke of Manchester and Bernice Felion also of Manchester, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom was preceded in death by brothers Richard, William and Robert Keyes and his sister Janice Felion.

SERVICES: Funeral services for Tom will be held Wednesday October 4, 2017 at 11am at the First Baptist Church in Manchester. Interment will follow with full military honors in the family lot in Factory Point Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday October 3, 2017 from 5-7pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT.
