Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A large number of family, friends and motorcycle enthusiasts attended the funeral services for Timothy J. Shays on Wednesday afternoon, June 21, 2006, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Jinno, pastor of the North Bennington Baptist Church, and the Rev. Michael DeMasi, chaplain of the Vermont Veterans Home, officiating.

Special music selected for the services included “I’ll Be Missing You,” “The Best Day Of My Life,” “My Way” and “I Will Always Love You.” A special song was sung by his young nephew, Tristen Shays.

Tributes and remembrances were offered by several in the gathering, including Tim’s mother, Norma, his brother, Cory, and his close friends, Dick Baker and Dave Richardson. His niece Audra spoke, as well as his cousin Christine. His niece Amanda Krawczyk read a poem that she had composed for Tim.

The interment followed in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal, where the Rev. Jinno and the Rev. DeMasi offered the words of committal.

Pallbearers for the services were Tim’s two brothers, Scott Shays and Cory Shays, his uncle, Chuck Clayborn, and his friends, Chris Cassano, Davey Richardson and Mark Sweet.

Mr. Timothy J. Shays, 40, a resident of Niles School Road in Pownal, died on Friday, June 16, 2006, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Bennington.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
