Timothy J. Maroney 1962 - 2011 BENNINGTON, VT Timothy James Maroney, 48, a resident of Hunt St. in Bennington died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. as a result of injuries sustained in a bicycle accident. He was born in Bennington Nov. 6, 1962, son of the late Ronald E. and Marjorie (Eastman) Maroney. Tim received his education in Bennington and was a 1981 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. Following high school, Tim was employed at Bennington Potters where he worked in the Kiln Room. He later was employed by Hart Electric and Aaron and Sons of Bennington. He was a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks #567. Tim enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. He was a NASCAR fan and especially liked Dale Earnhardt. He also was an avid Miami Dolphin and Boston Red Sox fan. Tim was very proud of his kids and especially enjoyed watching them play sports. Survivors include a son, T.J. Maroney, and Kristina Cone and their son Aiden of Bennington; daughter, Angie Granger, and her husband, Aaron, of Fort Myers, Fla.; his former wife, Wanda Jones of Bennington; two sisters, Linda Maroney and Bill Stryker of Saratoga, N.Y., and Barbara Forrest and her husband, Mike, of Bennington; brother, Michael Maroney of Bennington, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Donna Hunter and Karen Trainor, and his best friend, Roger Spika. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME in Bennington on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Tuesday at 6 p.m. A reception will follow the service at the Bennington Elks Lodge. All members of the Bennington Lodge of Elks #567 are requested to meet at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. to conduct their service. The committal service will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Timothy J. Maroney may be made to the family to help them with expenses through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201
