Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Todd W. Bigart, 42, a lifelong resident of Bennington, died unexpectedly Monday morning, June 28, 2004 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long battle with heart and renal disease. Todd was born in Bennington on Aug. 21, 1961, he was the son of Gareth and Gail (Hassom) Bigart. Growing up in Bennington, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School, class of 1980. He was married to Doris Cross in Shaftsbury on July 16, 1983. He had worked for local contractors in the stonework and masonry business. Todd was a sports fan and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He loved to spend time at camp on The County Road with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time and doing things with his wife, Doris, and daughter, Christy. He was a member of the Bennington County Four Wheelers Club. He leaves his wife of 20 years, Doris Bigart, and their daughter, Christy Bigart, both of Bennington; his paternal grandmother, Geraldine March of Bennington; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ezekiel and Mary Lou Cross Jr. of Shaftsbury; his brother-in-law, Peter Cross, and his wife, Paula, of Shaftsbury; his sister-in-law, Kimberly Bessette, and her husband, Stephen, of Bennington; nephews, Eric, Josh, Alex and Cole; nieces, Emily and Makenna. He was predeceased by his father, Gareth Bigart, and brother-in-law, Alan Cross. Funeral services will be private, burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present. Gifts in memory of Todd Bigart may be made to the Christy Bigart Educational Fund in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, VT 05201.
