Truman A. Noyes 1924-2008 BENNINGTON Truman A. Noyes, 84, a former resident of Beech St. Bennington and more recently of Shaftsbury, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at his residence following a long illness. He was born February 26, 1924 in North Bennington, son of Albert and Violet Bushee Noyes, Truman received his education in North Bennington. Mr. Noyes served in the Army during World War II and was the recipient of both a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Medal. He married the former Marion Leonard on July 20, 1946 at Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. For 39 years Truman had been employed at the Bijur Lubricating Company in Bennington and was later employed at the Vermont Tissue Company in North Bennington from which he retired. Truman enjoyed motorcycles and hunting. He leaves his wife, Marion A. Noyes, of Shaftsbury; a daughter, Gale Knapp and Bruce of Shaftsbury; a son, Buck A. Noyes and Vicky of North Bennington; two grandchildren, Bruce Knapp Jr. and Vicky of Shaftsbury and Margo Knapp and Phillip Branford of Bennington; a great granddaughter Amara Branford of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Alberta Noyes; and a brother, Bert H. Noyes. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Monday August 25, 2008 at 10 a.m. The burial will take place in the family lot in Hinsdiville Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. If friends desire contributions in memory of Truman A. Noyes may be made to the Dialysis Unit at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
