BENNINGTON -- Valarie Gay Mould, 55, a resident of Gage Place, died Sunday evening, Jan. 15, 2006, at The Centers For Living and Rehabilitation following a courageous battle with cancer.

Valarie was born in Bennington on Jan. 25, 1950, the daughter of the late Le Roy Jacobs and Pauline (Cutler) Jacobs, who survives. Valarie grew up in Bennington, where she attended local schools. She was a member of the first graduating class of Mount Anthony Union High School in 1968.

She had worked for 10 years in the dietary department of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and for the past 26 years has been the office manager at the Career Development Center. Valarie was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the Women of the Moose, American Legion Post 13 Auxiliary and a former member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a great cook and a devoted NASCAR fan, attending the races in Dover, Deleware. She loved the beach, especially those in Maine, and deep sea fishing. In earlier years she liked to go boating and candlepin bowling.

Valarie leaves her mother, Pauline Jacobs of Shaftsbury; her sons, Shaun and wife Kathi Mould, and Brett and wife Heather Mould, all of Bennington; brothers, Gregory and wife Cherie Jacobs of Bennington, and Christopher and wife Cynthia Jacobs of Shaftsbury; sisters, Cheryl and husband William Harrington, and Darlene Jacobs, all of Bennington; grandchildren, Matthew, Morgan, Kyle and Dylan Mould; her best friend, Lauri Wright of Woodford; also several, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The burial office with Eucharist will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Anita Schell-Lambert, rector.

Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m., when the family will be present.

Burial will take place in the family lot in the Woodford Cemetery in the spring.
