Obituary Condolences

Verona E. Caron

1939-2015 Verona Edna Caron died unexpectedly in her sleep Thursday morning, February 19, 2015. She was born Verona Edna Schneider on January 30, 1939 in Bennington, Vt. She was the daughter of Edwin Joseph Scheider and Althea Isabella (Brant). Verona was the only girl to her siblings, Edwin J. Schneider Jr. who currently resides in Hampton, N.H. with his wife, Maureen, Brant Schneider (predeceased), and Duane Schneider and his wife, Charlene of Perris, Calif. Verona graduated from Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. in 1956 and attended Hartford Airline School finding employment with Northeast Airlines as a reservations processor, mainly stationed in Hyannis, Mass. She had many fond memories of her work there and often shared stories of her interactions with John F. Kennedy, his wife, Jackie and his brother, Bobby. Verona held several other positions closer to her home, notably as a data processor for Fairdale Farms in Bennington, Vt. Verona loved her family, most especially her only daughter, Francie Caron of North Anson, Maine and her beloved grandson, Zachary J. Sherman. So much was her love that she retired early from Garelick (who acquired Fairdale Farms) Farms and moved to Maine with her daughter in order to care for her grandson, Zachary. Verona spent her time crocheting and knitting beautiful afghans and throws and being as active as she could with her Methodist Church family in North Anson. Besides the above listed family which include Francie Caron's longtime partner and soulmate, Michael Davendonis, Verona leaves behind a dear nephew, Michael Brant Schneider and wife, Kara of Pico Rivera, Calif. and a niece, Karen (Schneider) Tatro and husband, Bill and their children of Bennington, Vt.; several close maternal cousins, Katie Reed and her husband, Forrest of Cambridge, N.Y. that she spoke to daily, Connie Newall and her husband, Philip of Cohoes, N.Y., Joan Kay and husband, Al of Ticonderoga, N.Y. and Paul Kovage and wife, Karen of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; and paternal cousin Alice Wenfield and husband, Peter of Ft. Ann. N.Y. She also leaves a very dear friend whom she has known since grade school, Olga Rogers of Cambridge, N.Y. A memorial service will be held in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Redington-Fairview General Hospital, Oncology Department, P.O. Box 468, Skowhegan, ME 04976, Attn: Sue Forbus or the Community United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 97, North Anson, ME 04958.
