WHITEHALL, N.Y. -- Veronica Colomb FitzGerald, 84, of Holbrook Adult Home in Granville, and formerly of Whitehall, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2004 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a short illness.

Born on July 30, 1920 in Port Henry, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Ellen (Conners) O’Connor.

Veronica was known for her hearty laugh, sense of fun and her love of people. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing bingo, crossword puzzles and spending time with friends and family.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, a former member of the Fawns, B.P.O.E., Lodge 1491 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post No. 83 Auxiliary.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Colomb, her second husband, John FitzGerald and her twin sister, Vera Benjamin.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen (Colomb) Stevens and her husband, Larry and Kay (Colomb) Pelletier and her husband, Chuck; her grandchildren, Gregory J. Stevens and his wife, Amy, Andrew T. Stevens and his wife, Courtney, Laura (Stevens) King and her husband, Scott, Jeremy Pelletier, Danielle Pelletier and Christopher Pelletier; great granddaughter, Caroline Stevens; one brother-in-law, David FitzGerald; one sister-in-law, Marion Colomb; a niece, Elaine Manor of Whitehall and several other nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Skene Street in Whitehall with Fr. David LeFort, Pastor, officiating. The Rite of Committal services will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.

Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc. 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The Catholic Daughter will meet at the funeral home at 8 p.m. for the reciting of the rosary.

Following the committal services, family and friends are invited to Our Lady of Hope Parish Hall for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
