Vincent Cepela, Jr.

1923-2012 DORSET Vincent Cepela, Jr. 88, a resident of Dorset Hollow Road, passed away August 30, 2012 at Rutland Regional Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained from a fall.

Vincent was born in Bronxville, New York on November 7, 1923 the son of the late Vincent and Anna (Klinkovska) Cepela, Sr. and attended local schools. Vincent served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. Upon being honorably discharged, Vincent went to work for A&P Supermarkets in Yonkers, New York, then moving to Dorset where he was employed by the Grand Union in Manchester, retiring after thirty years of service.

Vincent married the former Helen Tobin in Granville, New York on October 4, 1946. Mrs. Cepela passed away May 3, 2012. Vincent was a lifelong member of both the American Legion, Post 44 in Dorset and the Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471 in Manchester, Vt. He was also a member of the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert. Vincent was a sports enthusiast. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golf, camping, square dancing and spending time with his family and friends. Vincent enjoyed wintering in Clearwater, Florida and became a Tampa Bay Rays and Buccaneers fan.

Vincent is survived by his children Dick Cepela and his wife Patti of Dorset and Linda Cepela and her fiance John Farrand of Pittsford, Vermont, his grandchildren Kristi Bacon, Darri Beach, Jennifer Rogers, Michael Wilcox and Chad Cepela, seven great grandchildren and his cat Mittens.

Graveside funeral services with military honors accorded for Vincent will be held Saturday September 8, 2012 at 12 Noon in the family lot in Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset.
