H00SICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Viola E. Vassello, 90, of Pike Street, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Bennington Health & Rehabilitation Center in Bennington, Vt. Born in New York City on March 4, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marion Miller. She moved to Hoosick Falls and graduated in 1930 from Hoosick Falls High School. She later moved to Yonker,s where she met her husband Phil, and also lived in Hastings on the Hudson before moving back to Hoosick Falls in 1975. She was a member of the National Womens Farm & Garden Club, in which she served as a statewide judge for flower arrangements. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoosick Falls and enjoyed gardening and oil painting.

She is the beloved wife of 65 years of Philip A. Vassello; mother of Thomas (Sharon) Vassello of Hoosick Falls, Phyllis Higgins of Yarmouth, Maine and the late Diane Carr of Chesapeake, Va.; sister of Betty Miller Vassello of Wurtsboro and Ruth Palermo of Syracuse. Also survived by eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls. A calling hour will precede the service from 10- 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, PO Box 16, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.

Arrangements are by the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main Street, Hoosick Falls.
