Viola A. Zink
1917-2010 BENNINGTON Viola A. Zink, 92, died peacefully on Monday, June 21, in the loving care of the staff at River's Edge Community Care Home in Bennington.
Born on Christmas day 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Howard Bach and Carolyn Griebel Bach.
She was married to John A. Zink on Aug. 17, 1940, in Brooklyn.
After a long life of service in the funeral industry, the Zinks moved to Bennington to be closer to family in 1976. Viola was predeceased by her husband in 1999.
Mrs. Zink was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Parish in Bennington.
Family was the focus of Viola's life, and she leaves her son and wife, John and Laura Zink of Bennington; three grandsons, John W. and wife, Meghan Zink, of Columbus, Ohio; William J. and wife, Sarah Zink, of Orient, Ohio; and Robert C. and wife, Moriah Zink, of Bennington; and two great-grandchildren, John Michael "JJ" and Alexa Marie Zink of Columbus, Ohio.
She will always be remembered as "Mom" and "Grandma" to her family.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main Street, Bennington, on Wednesday, June 23 from 6-8:30 p.m. A prayer service will be offered on Thursday, June 24, at 9 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 9:30 a.m., with internment following at Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga, N.Y.
