MANCHESTER -- The liturgy of Christian death and burial for Violet Pietrzak was celebrated Wednesday morning, Aug. 25, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manchester Center. The Rev. John Whalen was the celebrant. Music was under the direction of organist Michael Gallagher and included the communion hymn “Ave Maria,” sung solo by Michael Gallagher. The scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were offered by reader Kenneth Linehan. The pall was placed on the casket by Mrs. Pietrzak’s daughters Alice Goodman and Patricia Eveland. Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Mrs. Pietrzak’s daughter Patricia with her husband Scott Eveland and Tara Young and Amy Hyde. The Rev. Whalen read a poem to the family titled “Togetherness.” Serving as pall bearers were Mrs. Pietrzak’s grandsons Brian, Kevin and Matthew Goodman and her son-in-law Scott Eveland. On Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning the Rev. Whalen offered a Catholic prayer and vigil service at the funeral home. A gathering and a time for fellowship immediately followed the Mass at the home of Mrs. Pietrzak’s daughter, Alice.

Mrs. Pietrzak, 84, of Deermeadow Road in Manchester Center, died Sunday, Aug. 22, while attending Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manchester Center. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Brewster Funeral Service, 34 Park Place, Manchester Center.
