Virginia A. Dooley 1918 - 2008 SHAFTSBURY Virginia A. Dooley, 90, a resident of Mayberry Road in Gray, Maine and formerly of Main Street, in Shaftsbury, Vt., died peacefully Monday Oct. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by her family. Virginia was born in Springfield, Mass., on Aug. 18, 1918, daughter of Ralph and Edna Smith Moon. She received her education in North Bennington schools, graduating from North Bennington High School and attended nursing school in Massachusetts. Virginia worked as a nanny, taking care of children most of her life and in her earlier years worked at a local Bennington Department Store. She was a member of the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church where she was the substitute organist, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group. She was an avid reader, liked collecting stickers and enjoyed cutting out pictures in magazines and making scrap books, especially of Princess Dianna. Virginia leaves her son Ralph Dooley, Jr. of Burlington, Vt., her daughter, Donna Therrien, and her husband, Howard, of Gray, Maine, eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Judith Snyder and her brother Stanley B. Moon. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Virginia A. Dooley will be held Friday morning Oct. 24, 2008 at 11 a.m. at HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME 213 West Main Street Bennington, Vermont. Interment will follow in the family lot in Village Cemetery in Shaftsbury. There are no visiting hours.
