Virginia Blanchard 1923 - 2009 NORTH BENNINGTON Virginia Evelyn Blanchard, 85, of North Bennington and a native of North Adams, Mass., died April 27, 2009, at Prospect Nursing Home in North Bennington. Born in North Adams on Aug. 6, 1923, daughter of Oscar G. and Mina Larsen Olson, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1941. She was a former resident of Bridges Road, Williamstown, until she moved Florida in 1987, and then to North Bennington in 2008. Over the years, Mrs. Blanchard worked as an office clerk in several business establishments, including the North Adams National Bank, Dewey and Almy Chemical Company of Adams and the last being the Williamstown Savings Bank. In Williamstown, she was a member of the Williamstown Methodist Church, where, at different times, she served as church secretary, vice president and secretary of the Women's Society, and also taught Sunday School. She leaves a sister, Frances T. Gordon of North Bennington; two nieces, Marilyn F. Silver of North Bennington and Gail V. Dick of Lexington, Va.; and grandnieces and nephews. Her husband, William H. Blanchard, whom she married Sept. 27, 1947, at the First United Methodist Church in North Adams, died March, 2008. She was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Olson.
