Virginia May Gates Bourn 1936-2011 BENNINGTON Virginia May Gates Bourn, age 74, a resident of Emma Street in Bennington, died on Sunday morning, January 23, 2011 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a long illness. She was born in Eagle Bridge, N.Y. on October 3, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Philander and Margaret Woodard Gates. She received her education in local schools. She is the widow of Garold Bourn on who died in 1994. Virginia had been employed as a nurses aide at various nursing homes in Vermont. She enjoyed playing the Lottery, telling fortunes with playing cards, visiting friends, listening to music and traveling. But most important was spending time with her grandchildren. Virginia is survived by one son Terry Gates of Bennington, her sister, Viola Gulley of Bennington and her grandchildren; Kiana Gates, Jesse Gates, Devin Gates and Richard Gates. She is survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by four brothers; William Allen, Raymond Allen, Daniel Gates, and Buster Gates, and her four sisters: Ruth Zilinskas, Hazel Gates, Charlotte Harrington, and Shirley Mears. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held in the spring in Hinsdillville Cemetery in North Bennington.
