Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Virginia Clark Freitag, 80, a former resident of Bennington, died Nov. 23, 2003 in Florida.

Born in Bennington March 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harry F. Clark Jr. and the former Gertrude (Cranston) Clark. She received her education in the Bennington schools and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School. Mrs. Freitag lived in Florida for many years and enjoyed trips back to Bennington for visits and high school reunions. Following her retirement she returned to Bennington where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star and was employed as a clerk in the Bennington Town Clerk’s office.

Mrs. Freitag returned to Florida a few years ago.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Nancy Wagar of Clearwater, Fla. and Bruce and Karen Wagar of Cumming, Ga.; five grandchildren, Kelli Wagar of Banner Elk, N.C., Kristi Faircloth of Dublin, Ga., Kerri Wagar of Clearwater, Fla., Kyle Wagar of Tallahassee, Fla. and Clayton Wagar of Alpharetta, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren, Noah Wagar, Declan Wagar, Jameson Wagar, Kayla Faircloth and Jackson Wagar. Mrs. Freitag was predeceased by a brother, Gordon H. Clark. Graveside committal services will take place Saturday, June 26 at 10 a.m. at White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington with the Rev. Cass Gilbert, former pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Bennington, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
