Virginia M. Haas 1930-2011 POWNAL, VT Mrs. Virginia M. Haas, 81 a resident of Pownal died peacefully Friday morning November 25, 2011 at her home in the presence of her loving family. Mrs. Haas was born in South Williamstown, on June 30, 1930, she was the only child born to Raoul and Viola G. Sheltra Surprenant. She grew up in Williamstown and graduated as valedictorian of Williamstown High School, she continued her education at Bay Path Community College. For 19 years, she had worked at Sprague Electronics in North Adams in various secretarial capacities with department heads, she then worked for many years as Administrative Assistant at the former Helene Toolan Cancer Research Center in Bennington. Mrs. Haas enjoyed reading travel books, cooking interior decorating, animals, especially cats and spending time with her family. She leaves her husband Ernest A. Haas whom she married January 30, 1954 in Williamstown, daughter Kathy and husband Larry Turoczy of Adams, and grandchildren Timothy and Sara. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no service at this time.
