Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER -- Virginia May Taft, 62, of Manchester, passed away at her home on Thursday afternoon March 8, 2007. She was born in Bennington on Aug. 26, 1944, the daughter of Michael and Edith (Fleming) Hanlon. She was a 1964 graduate of Burr and Burton Seminary. She married Edmund Taft Sr. on May 7, 1966.

She worked for Orvis for 20 years and then the Vermont Country Store for 10 years. She loved to take pictures. She loved sports and was a big Red Sox and Braves fan. Her greatest joy came from family get togethers, especially reunions.

She is survived by her husband, Edmund, of Manchester; her son, Edmund Taft Jr. of Burlington; two brothers, Robert Hanlon of Hudson Falls, N.Y., and Michael Richard Hanlon of Rutland; two sisters, Janet Martelle of Manchester and June Bump of Front Royal, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 11, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at the Brewster Funeral Home, 34 Park Place. The Rev. John Whalen will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in South Village in East Dorset.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 11, 2007, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
