Virginia Catherine Heaslip Shea 1920-2011 BENNINGTON Virginia Catherine Heaslip Shea, 90 a resident of Caroline Drive died peacefully Monday March 14, 2011 at Crescent Manor Care Centers. She was born in Bennington on June 30, 1920, daughter of Charles H. Heaslip, Sr. and the Anna Fitzgerald Heaslip.She was educated in Bennington schools, graduating from Bennington High School in 1938. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis de Sales Parish, and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters. Early in her career, she worked at the EZ Company in Bennington. After marrying George Shea in 1948, she worked in the family furniture manufacturing business and raised six children. Later in life, due to her husband's disability, she was his primary care giver during the last 20 years of his life. Mrs. Shea's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Mrs. Shea is survived by her children: Michael Shea of Shelburne Falls, Mass; Mary Shea Rosen of Brattleboro; Aileen Gebbie of Greensboro; Brian Shea and his wife Sheri Slobin Shea of West Hartford, Conn.; Thomas Shea and his wife Carol DeSantis Shea of Kensington, N.H. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Colleen Heaslip of Shelburne, 12 grandchildren , two great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Shea was pre-deceased by her husband George in 1994, her son Patrick in 1977 and her grandson Jaime Rosen in 1986. She is also pre-deceased by her siblings George Heaslip, Lisabeth (Lib) Heaslip Cole, Charles Heaslip, and John (Jack) Heaslip and her sons-in-law Donald Gebbie and Gary Rosen. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church on Friday March 18 at noon . Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10am until 11:45a.m. when the family will be present. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
