Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A Prayer service for Mrs. Vivian B. Knapp was held on Wednesday morning, Sept. 13, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington followed by a Mass of Resurrection at Sacred Heart St.-Francis deSales Church in Bennington with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor, officiating.

The pall was placed on the casket by her six children, Mr. Francis Knapp, Mrs. Rosemary Kinney, Mr. Peter Knapp, Mr. Bruce Knapp, Mrs. Helene Stratton, and Mr. Jeffrey Knapp.

The Cross of Resurrection was placed on the casket by her husband, Mr. Larry Knapp, assisted by his granddaughter, Tami Elwell. Organist for the Mass was Mr. Donald McMahon and the soloist was Ms. Monica Murray. Selected hymns for the mass included, “Be Not Afraid,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” and “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel. Her granddaughter, Mrs. Erin Shulman, sang “Amazing Grace.”

The Eucharistic gifts were brought to the altar by three granddaughters, Ms. Veronica Patterson, Ms. Lisa Granger and Ms. Tami Elwell.

Tributes and remembrances were offered by four of her children; Peter, Helene, Rosemary and Francis.

Assisting at the Mass were Mr. Joseph Anton, Mr. Edward Molloy, Mr. Leonard Anzivino, and Mr. Francis Sausville.

Interment followed in Park Lawn Cemetery where Fr. Coppola offered the prayers of committal.

A time of fellowship followed at the family home in Bennington.

Mrs. Vivian Beatrice Knapp, 83, a resident of Branch Street in Bennington, died on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 following a long illness.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
