Obituary Condolences

PLYMOUTH -- Vivian N. Blanchard, 94, died at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation in Bennington on June 24, 2006.

She was born in Plymouth on Jan. 31, 1912, the daughter of Burt N. and Vernie (Royce) Moore.

Vivian attended grade school in Plymouth Union and graduated from Black River Academy in Ludlow in 1930. She married James E. Blanchard on Dec. 3, 1932.

Vivian was the town treasurer for Plymouth for several years, also serving as a justice of the peace and ballot clerk. She then worked for the Homestead in Woodstock for 20 years, serving as assistant director for the last five years. Following the Homestead, Vivian spent five summers working at the Calvin Coolidge birthplace.

Vivian was a member of the Union Christian Church in Plymouth and a trustee emeritus of the Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Martin of Plymouth and Beverly Johnson of Manchester, Conn.; two sons, Wayne Blanchard of Eden, N.C., and Nelson Blanchard of Bennington; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Lola Blanchard, and two brothers, Harlan and Richard Moore.

A memorial service will be held at the Union Christian Church in Plymouth on Friday, June 30, 2006, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jane Buswell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Plymouth Notch Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
