NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Walter Joseph Susee Jr., 66, of Ashland Street, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, as a result of a fall at home.

He was born in Bennington, Vt., on June 11, 1941, a son of Earlene (Davis) Battis and the late Walter J. Susee Sr. He attended schools in Bennington. He was employed for several years as a truck driver for several companies in Berkshire County and Southern Vermont. He was also employed at the Stanley Tool Co. in Shaftsbury, Vt. He was a member of the Vermont National Guard.

Survivors include his former wife, Jean (Hall) Brooks of Pittsfield; his mother, Earlene (Davis) Battis of Pittsfield.; three daughters, Gracie Susee of Canada, Belinda Gates and Tammy Alverado, both of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; five sons, Timothy Susee, Charles Hall and Walter J. Susee III, all of Bennington, and Dennis Susee of Canada and Steven Susee of Salem, N.Y.; two stepsons, Albert and Richard James of Bennington; four sisters, Joan Kleiner of the state of Florida, Audrey Gegitti of Cape Cod, Elaine Peters of Eagle Bridge, N.Y., and Joyce Hiscock of Alabama; a brother, Richard Susee of Rochester, N.Y.; four half-sisters, Shirley Thomas of Clarksburg, Debbie O’Dell of Savoy, Sandra Debreau of Pittsfield, and Gale Briggs of Adams; a longtime friend, John Packard of North Adams; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a half brother, Robert Battis.

Funeral services and burial for Walter Joseph Susee will take place at the convenience of the family. The Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, are in charge of arrangements.
